Where in the world can you get film money?

252 public funds, foundation grants, co-production schemes and cash rebates across 51 countries — every entry read off the funder's own site, not an aggregator. Click a country on the map, or filter down to the schemes you can actually apply for.

How to read this — and what it does not tell you

Every row was checked against the funder's own website, not a blog or an aggregator. Where a figure was not published on the official page, the field says "not published" rather than an estimate. Where the funder's page appeared stale — a 2021 deadline still sitting on a live guidelines page, for example — the row says so.

Deadlines move every year. A date here is what the funder had published when this was compiled (August 2026). Treat it as a signal of when in the year a scheme opens, and confirm the live date on the funder's page before you plan around it. Nothing here is a substitute for the official guidelines.

"Can I apply from abroad?" is the filter most people actually need:

Tax incentives are not grants. Rows tagged Tax incentive are rebates or credits earned against qualifying local spend, usually paid after the fact. They change your financing plan in a completely different way from a development grant, so they are tagged separately rather than mixed in.

Confidence reflects how much the official page actually stated. high means figures, deadline and eligibility were all confirmed on the source. medium means the scheme was confirmed but some fields were absent or inferred. low means the page was unreadable, gated, or the scheme's current status is unclear — verify before relying on it.

Known coverage gaps. Latin America is thin — Argentina and Colombia are present, but Mexico (IMCINE), Brazil (ANCINE/FSA), Chile, Peru, Uruguay and the regional Ibermedia programme could not be verified in this pass and are deliberately absent rather than guessed at. Canada is partial: the Canada Media Fund is covered, but Telefilm Canada's site is JavaScript-gated and appears only as an unverified signpost. Mainland China, most of Sub-Saharan Africa beyond South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Senegal, and most US state incentives are also out of scope here.

Funding is step one. Prep is what wins it.

Most applications ask for a breakdown, a schedule and a budget. Drop your script into Filmustage and get all three — script breakdown, stripboard schedule and a budget top sheet — in minutes, ready to attach to the form.
